Liposuction at CREO

Liposuction, or suction-assisted lipectomy, is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess fat deposits to sculpt and define targeted sections of the body. The surgery aims to finely contour body parts with pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, thus providing patients with a more defined silhouette.

Dr Omar Tillo is one of the most experienced body plastic surgeons in the UK that specialises in body contouring surgeries and plastic surgery from the neck down. Having performed liposuction for many years, he has developed the skills and expertise to safely and artfully shape and accentuate different parts of a patient’s body to deliver their ideal results.

At the CREO clinic, we use the latest liposuction technologies, including Vaser (ultrasound-assisted liposuction), PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction), and BodyTite (radiofrequency assisted liposuction) to meet the different needs of our patients while delivering an optimal outcome.

If you want to get rid of stubborn fat, book a consultation with Dr Tillo to discuss your aesthetic concerns. During your consultation, Dr Tillo will assess your suitability for the procedure and determine the best surgical approach and liposuction technology required to produce your desired results.

Liposuction Cost in London

In general, liposuction surgery at the CREO clinic starts from £3900 for a small area of the body such as the chin or neck; £4500 for one large area; £5900 for two sections; £7900 for three sections; £8500 for four sections or 360 lipo (which encompasses the entire circumference of the midsection); an additional £1000 for further areas.

The exact cost of a liposuction varies depending on the size of the areas being treated and the individual characteristics of each patient.

Procedure

First, the surgeon marks the areas of the body treated. Afterwards, our anesthetist will administer a general anaesthetic or sedative. The surgeon inserts a suction cannula into the targeted area via a small incision. The liposuction device will then break up and remove the required amount of fat. Finally, our cosmetic surgeon will stitch the incision closed.

Recovery

The recovery process is different for each patient and is dependent on the nature of your procedure. Your surgeon will provide detailed aftercare instructions and prescribe pain medication to make your recovery as comfortable as possible. Furthermore, you will receive a fitted compression garment that eases swelling and further contours the treated area.

Outlined below is the typical timeline for the recovery period following liposuction:

1st week: You may experience swelling, bruising, and slight numbness in the affected area that will gradually dissipate in a few days. You should feel able to return to light and office work after this period. Furthermore, we will schedule you for a follow-up appointment with the nurse to assess your healing and remove any non-absorbable sutures.

2-3 weeks: You can resume your daily routine, including strenuous exercise.

6-8 weeks: You can stop wearing your compression garment, and you will begin to see the results of your surgery. In addition, we will schedule you for a follow-up visit with the surgeon to assess your scars and healing.

6-12 months: The final results of your surgery will become apparent and you will notice continuous improvements during this period; you will have your final follow-up appointment with the surgeon six months after the surgery.

Results

Liposuction immediately removes excess fat in the area, but the results only become visible when the side effects of the surgery dissipate. Therefore, it may take between 6-12 weeks for the final results of your surgery to become visible. By this time, you will notice that the treated area is slimmer and more contoured.

Furthermore, you may notice some skin laxity in the area that usually contracts over time. However, some patients (due to factors such as age and amount of fat removal) may have permanent excess skin in the area. In such cases, your surgeon may recommend a BodyTite treatment for tightening the skin to produce an optimal outcome.

Combined Procedures

Liposuction and Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is a surgery that removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen while tightening the muscles in the area. The procedure produces a flatter and toned stomach while strengthening the patient’s abdominal core. Dr Tillo has perfected this surgical combination by performing it for many years on an almost regular weekly basis.

Combining a liposuction with a tummy tuck delivers a more prominent result, as it enables larger amounts of excess fat to be removed from the upper or lower abdomen or surrounding areas, thus enhancing the contours of the body. Furthermore, undergoing both procedures simultaneously is more cost-effective and convenient for the patient as they can combine the downtime for both surgeries.

Liposuction FAQ

How much weight can you lose with liposuction?

Liposuction doesn’t result in a significant loss of weight, nor is it performed for this reason. Rather, it’s a body contouring surgery that removes excess fat in targeted areas of the body. However, liposuction can remove a maximum of 4-5 litres of fat (3-4 kg) during one surgery.

Does liposuction permanently remove fat?

Yes, liposuction permanently removes excess fat cells. However, it’s important that you follow a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain results.

If you were to regain weight, it’s unlikely that you would accumulate fat in the treated area. Instead, you are more likely to develop excess fat in other areas, thus changing your body’s proportions.

Is it easier to lose weight after liposuction?

A liposuction doesn’t directly help you lose weight, as your dietary and exercise regime still has the same impact before and after the surgery. However, liposuction is often a motivating factor for patients to reach their weight loss goals because by eliminating fat in stubborn areas of the body, they’re more likely to achieve their desired figure.

Does liposuction leave loose skin?

Liposuction can leave behind loose skin in the treated area, depending on the amount of fat being removed. In most cases, the skin naturally tightens over the coming months.

However, patients who are already experiencing skin laxity due to age, pregnancy, or weight loss, or having a lot of fat removed, may be left with permanent loose skin. Your surgeon evaluates your skin elasticity before the procedure and informs you if further cosmetic treatments may be needed to tighten your skin after a liposuction.

Is liposuction worth it?

Most patients that undergo a liposuction are satisfied with the outcome and consider it to be a worthwhile procedure. By removing fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, the surgery helps them achieve their desired figure. Furthermore, a liposuction delivers permanent results and does not leave behind any significant scars.
