Monsplasty Surgery London

What Is Monsplasty?

Monsplasty, also known as a mons lift, mons reduction, or pubic lift, is a surgical procedure to remove stubborn fat and excess skin from the area above the pubic bone (the mons pubis). As a result, patients can enjoy a less prominent mons pubis that is flatter in appearance.

Excess fat deposits can develop in the mons pubis as a result of weight gain. For patients who have undergone major weight loss, lax skin can remain in the area, causing the mons pubis to bulge. Monsplasty is an effective way to contour the mons pubis by permanently removing this excess fatty tissue or loose skin.

At the CREO Clinic, our medical director Dr. Omar Tillo has dedicated his career to body contouring procedures. To book a consultation and design a bespoke treatment plan with Dr. Tillo, contact the CREO Clinic today and get on track to a flatter, more contoured appearance.

A good candidate for pubis reduction surgery should be any individual seeking to contour the mons pubis region by removing excess skin or fat. A good candidate should also:

    • Be in good physical and psychological health.
    • Be at a suitable BMI. Use our BMI calculator to check your eligibility.
    • Have realistic expectations about the results monsplasty can achieve.

    Those Undergoing A Tummy Tuck

Patients who are undergoing a tummy tuck to remove excess sagging skin around the abdomen may wish to combine their procedure with a monsplasty if they also have an enlarged or drooping mons pubis. In doing so, patients can enjoy more comprehensive contour effects for their midsection.

    Benefits Of Monsplasty Surgery

The main benefit of a monsplasty surgery is the aesthetically pleasing, flatter mons pubis that can be achieved by removing the excess skin and/or fat.

Some patients with an enlarged mons pubis may also experience functional issues associated with excess skin hanging over the vulva, including difficulties passing urine and having sexual intercourse.

In addition, excess skin folds can cause difficulties in maintaining adequate hygiene, causing skin irritation and increasing the risk of infection.

    How Pubis Reduction Works

Monsplasty surgery involves the removal of excess fat or skin from the mons pubis area in order to contour and reduce the prominence of the area. Mons reduction can be performed using one of two techniques, with both taking 1-2 hours to complete.

    Mons Pubis Liposuction

Mons pubis liposuction is most suitable for patients who have excess stubborn fat deposits in the mons pubis with good skin elasticity.

The procedure can be performed under sedation or general anaesthetic, and utilises liposuction technologies. A set of small incisions are made in the area to accommodate the suction cannula through which fat is broken up and removed. The incisions are then closed with medical-grade sutures.

Mons Pubis Reduction With Skin Excision

For patients who have lax skin around the mons pubis, either as a result of ageing or significant weight loss, a mons pubis reduction with skin excision is the most suitable option. This procedure, also termed a mons lift surgery or mons reduction surgery, involves a small incision in the area to excise the sagging skin. The area is then tightened by stitching to the deeper muscle layer and remaining skin.

    Preparation For Pubis Reduction Surgery

There are some steps to follow in the lead up to your calf augmentation surgery that will help secure the best results.

    • Stop nicotine consumption 4 weeks prior to surgery to prevent complication
    • Make a plan for after-care – Plan your recovery carefully, taking an adequate amount of time off work and ensuring you have help with childcare and pet care.
    • Stop oestrogen contraceptives or HRT four weeks before surgery to prevent blood clots
    • Cut down your alcohol intake for a smooth recovery

    Recovery Timeline After Monsplasty

After surgery, you may experience side effects such as bruising and swelling in the treatment area. Most patients feel well enough to return to work after 7 days, and can resume most light activities after 1-2 weeks. After four weeks, you will be able to resume sexual activity and exercise, and can expect a full recovery by the six week mark.

Monsplasty / Pubis Reduction Surgery FAQs

What is the cost of monsplasty?

The price of monsplasty at the CREO Clinic starts from £6,900 for liposuction and skin excision. As monsplasty is a bespoke procedure, an exact quote can only be provided following a consultation with Dr. Tillo.
Why do I have an oversized mons pubis?

An oversized mons pubis can develop as a result of weight gain, hormonal factors or genetic factors. An oversized mons pubis can also develop following significant weight loss, where the excess, inelastic skin bulges in the area.
Is there scarring from monsplasty?

Scarring from monsplasty depends on the surgical techniques chosen. For a mons reduction using liposuction only, scarring is minimal as only small incisions are required for the liposuction cannulas.

Surgical excision of the skin involves larger incisions to be made above the mons pubis. However, these are still relatively small in size and are well covered by undergarments as well as the natural contours of the body.

Any scarring that you are concerned about after surgery can also be treated with laser scar removal to minimise its appearance.

How soon can I resume sexual activity?

Patients should avoid sexual activity for a minimum of four weeks after surgery to avoid strain on the surgical site and delaying the body’s healing process. Instead, patients should wait until they are fully recovered and are not experiencing discomfort to engage in sexual intercourse.

What other treatments can be combined with monsplasty?

A mons pubis reduction surgery is commonly combined with several treatments, including a tummy tuck. During surgery, excess skin is removed from across both the abdomen and fatty mons pubis. Monsplasty can also be combined with liposuction to remove excess fat deposits from the area.
