What to Expect from a Liposuction Procedure

During your initial consultations, you will have an opportunity to discuss the areas of concern where you wish to have liposuction performed. It is important to note that liposuction is not a debulking or significant weight loss procedure. Instead, liposuction can be used to target specific pockets of fat only and should be completed when you are already at your ideal weight.

Dr. Tillo will then ask you about your health and ensure that you have a suitable BMI below 35 for surgery. If you are deemed eligible for liposuction, you will agree upon a treatment plan with Dr. Tillo, tailored to your specific needs.

Like other cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction is typically performed under sedation or general anaesthetic and takes 1-3 hours. Dr. Tillo will mark the area(s) of the body where fat is to be removed before inserting a suction cannula into the areas via a small incision. The liposuction device then breaks up and removes the targeted fat, after which the incisions are closed using dissolvable sutures.
