The combination of a fat transfer and tummy tuck can provide dramatic benefits for the body. The two procedures can be performed as part of a mummy makeover to restore areas of the body affected by pregnancy. It can also be tailored to help both men and women achieve their ideal figure. In this article, we’ll discuss both procedures in detail and the benefits of combining them.
Combining both surgeries in one session is more cost-effective for the patient. You can save up on the cost of anaesthetics, use of the surgical facility, and a range of other administrative costs, which are factored into the price of each surgery.
Combining procedures is time-efficient for the patient. You can avoid having to fast and prepare for surgery twice, avoid checking in and out of hospital multiple times, and avoid attending follow-up appointments for two procedures. Additionally, the time spent in theatre will be shorter as the anaesthetic, and other medications will only need to be administered once.
You can also combine the recovery time for both procedures, thus saving more time. As there isn’t a significant difference in the level of discomfort associated with recovering from one surgery compared with multiple surgeries, you can also avoid the physical and emotional toll of enduring two recovery periods.
In most cases, you’ll be able to notice the results of your tummy tuck and fat transfer around the same time. As a result, you will be able to enjoy a more comprehensive and dramatic transformation after recovery. Patients who have both procedures will enjoy a more contoured abdomen and improved proportions and contouring effects in the areas treated with liposuction and fat transfer.
A fat transfer is a surgery that removes fat from areas of the body where it is in excess and repurposes the fat in order to add volume to other areas of the body. Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), breast augmentation, and calf augmentation are among several body contouring procedures that utilise fat transfer. However, it is not possible to combine a BBL with a tummy tuck.
There are several benefits of a fat transfer procedure. For instance, the use of your own fat tissue produces natural-looking results, the fat grafts remain in place permanently, and liposuction and fat transfer can produce a full body contour. Additionally, it is a highly bespoke treatment as surgeons can reshape, enhance, and sculpt the body to achieve your desired result.
On average, the cost of fat transfer at the CREO Clinic starts from £7,900 for one area of the body. However, prices will vary depending on the number and size of liposuction treatment areas and the overall complexity of the surgery. The exact price will be provided after a consultation with our plastic surgeon.
A fat transfer procedure can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours to perform under sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the areas being treated. First, the surgeon starts by performing liposuction on targeted areas to extract the excess fat. The fat grafts will then be purified and injected into the areas that require enhancement.
You will experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the areas that were treated with liposuction and fat injection. These symptoms usually dissipate in 1-2 weeks, after which you can return to office work and most daily activities. However, it may take 4-6 weeks before you can resume strenuous activities. You will be provided with recovery tips and guidelines before surgery to help you prepare.
Although you will notice the immediate contouring effects of the fat transfer, the final results may take 3-6 months to become apparent as it takes time for the residual swelling to dissipate and for the fat grafts to settle.
During this time, you may notice a 30-50% decrease in the volume of your immediate result, as not all fat grafts will survive the transfer. However, your surgeon will account for this by injecting the appropriate amount of volume to deliver your desired result. The remaining fat will connect with the blood supply in the area and remain in place permanently.
Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is a surgery that removes excess skin from the abdomen and, in some cases, tightens the abdominal muscles.
By removing the loose skin in the abdomen, a tummy tuck provides a range of benefits, including getting rid of stretch marks, reversing the effects of pregnancy, and toning the body after weight loss. Additionally, it can repair muscle separation in the abdomen, which can strengthen the core and alleviate back pain and other related ailments.
The cost of a tummy tuck at the CREO Clinic starts from £8,900 for a mini tummy tuck, £10,900 for a full tummy tuck under sedation, and £12,900 for a full tummy tuck under general anaesthesia. However, the price will vary depending on the type of tummy tuck you require and your unique surgical needs. You will receive the exact cost of your treatment after consulting with our plastic surgeon.
A tummy tuck can take anywhere between 2-5 hours to perform under sedation or general anaesthesia. The most common variations of the surgery are the full and mini tummy tuck.
A full tummy tuck requires a longer incision along the bikini line and an incision around the belly button. It removes excess skin in the upper and lower abdomen while also tightening the abdominal muscles if needed. Whereas, a mini tummy tuck removes excess skin in the lower abdomen through a smaller incision along the bikini line and does not involve muscle repair.
After a tummy tuck, you will experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in your abdomen. Most patients will be able to return to work and other daily activities within 1-2 weeks after a mini tummy tuck and after 2 weeks following a full tummy tuck. It may take around 3-4 weeks and up to 8 weeks before patients can resume more strenuous activities after a mini and full tummy tuck, respectively.
Your abdomen will look noticeably flatter and contoured after surgery. However, you will need to wait until the residual swelling dissipates before you can enjoy its full contouring effects. Therefore, your results will continually improve for 6-12 months after the surgery, and the resulting scarring will gradually begin to fade.
