Ageing, genetics, or rapid weight loss can sometimes cause excess lax skin on the upper arms – a phenomenon often known as ‘bat’ wings or ‘bingo’ wings. People often look to the highly effective arm lift surgery for a solution, but BodyTite can provide transformative skin tightening for the upper arm.
This article explores the many benefits of a BodyTite arm lift, offering a detailed explanation of the body contouring procedure itself and exploring some of the common queries people have about the treatment.
The CREO Clinic’s Medical Director, Dr. Omar Tillo, has performed countless BodyTite arm lifts throughout his career and is an expert in the body contouring procedure. His experience as a cosmetic surgeon gives him an intuitive understanding of the body’s aesthetics and allows him to provide consistently high-quality body contouring.

BodyTite harnesses the power of radiofrequency energy using a minimally invasive probe device designed by Inmode. BodyTite delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy beneath the skin and to the skin’s surface simultaneously, working to dissolve fat cells and tighten the skin at the same time. It is often performed in conjunction with liposuction to remove a larger amount of fat deposits in the upper arm while tightening the skin.
The aim of a traditional arm lift is to reduce the excess tissue and skin, sometimes known as ‘bingo wings’ or ‘bat wings.’ This is the loose skin that can develop between the back of the upper arm and the elbow. This skin and tissue is removed via careful incisions (often in combination with liposuction), then the arm is reshaped, and the upper arm becomes smoother, firmer, and more toned as a result.
A scarless arm lift is another way to refer to a BodyTite arm lift – one of BodyTite’s most popular and most effective applications. It is used to address loose skin and excess fat removal in the upper arms rather than excising the excess tissue and skin, as is the case in a traditional arm lift.
One of the many benefits of BodyTite surgical procedures is that it results in little to no scarring – this is why it is called a ‘scarless’ arm lift. The BodyTite arm lift reduces excess fat and skin laxity while only requiring tiny incisions to accommodate the handpiece. As a result, patients can enjoy significantly less scarring than traditional brachioplasty procedures.
A BodyTite arm lift and a traditional arm lift arm lift are two very different procedures. A traditional lift requires an incision along the underarm towards the elbow – the size of this incision may vary depending on the degree of laxity. Excess skin and fat are then removed, and liposuction may also be performed at this stage to remove fat deposits. Dr. Tillo then reshapes the tissue and skin, carefully closing the incisions in position with dissolvable sutures.
When arm lift is performed with BodyTite, the radiofrequency energy probe is inserted under the skin through a tiny incision. The probe slides under the treatment area, while another probe remains above the skin passing electrical energy between the two, melting the fat cells under the skin and stimulating fibroblasts – a cell that produces the collagen fibres that are responsible for skin tightening.
As a traditional arm lift excises a section of skin, you can see a difference in the contour of your arm immediately after surgery. The effects of a BodyTite lift take a little longer to appear, and you can generally see the impact of the treatment after 2-4 months post-surgery.
The full results of either a traditional or BodyTite arm lift may take up to 6 months to become clear, although BodyTite patients may see their final results earlier – at around four months.
Skin laxity on the arms can be extremely difficult to address without cosmetic treatment, as it is difficult to restore elasticity to inelastic skin. Bingo wings can make you feel less comfortable in certain clothing – e.g., sleeveless tops or swimwear – and an arm lift can contour the arms to help boost confidence in your appearance.
A traditional surgical arm lift is preferred for extreme cases of skin laxity, whereas a BodyTite arm lift is most effective for mild to moderate lax skin.
The radiofrequency energy delivered by BodyTite has two main functions: firstly, the heat it creates dissolves fat cells under the skin so they can be permanently removed. Secondly, the heat applied stimulates fibroblasts, setting in motion the production of fresh collagen and elastin that will tighten the surface of the skin and improve its tone and texture.
By firming up the lax skin and reducing fat, a BodyTite treatment decreases visible ‘bingo’ wings and creates a more youthful, athletic-looking contour for the upper arm.
Any adult who is interested in reducing lax, sagging skin on the arms can be a good candidate for a BodyTite arm lift. However, the CREO Clinic does have some criteria for an ideal candidate:
A great advantage of a BodyTite treatment is that it is a one-off, minimally invasive procedure that lasts between 1-2 hours. If needed, you may wish to repeat the procedure one year after the first treatment.
A BodyTite arm lift has two main functions that it performs simultaneously – the smoothing and toning of the skin of the upper arm and the reduction of stubborn, unwanted pockets of fat.
The use of radiofrequency energy means that the dissolution and extraction of fat is gentler than regular liposuction. This means less damage to the blood vessels and can help to minimise bruising and inflammation after surgery.
A crucial advantage of a BodyTite arm lift is that only one extremely small incision is necessary to access and treat the fat and excess skin of the upper arm.
Depending on your needs, BodyTite treatment can be performed using local anaesthetic. Some patients opt for deep sedation instead – the CREO Clinic offers both local anaesthetic and deep sedation – this part of the treatment plan can be discussed with Dr. Tillo during the initial consultation.
A traditional arm lift surgery incurs more potential complications than BodyTite – BodyTite is a more straightforward procedure and thus creates far less risk.
A BodyTite arm lift is performed under local anaesthetic and typically takes 1-2 hours to complete.
Dr. Tillo creates an entry point around 2-3 mm in width, which the BodyTite cannula can enter in order to deliver its radiofrequency energy and create heat that can dissolve unwanted fat. The specially designed probe also works as an aspirating cannula, removing the fat cells as they are dissolved. Meanwhile, an electrode remains outside of the skin, ensuring a current is passing between the two probes – this targets the subdermal tissues to help with skin tightening.
A layer of gel is applied to the skin so that the electrode glides smoothly along the surface of the skin as the cannula is moved.
At the CREO Clinic, a BodyTite treatment begins from £5,500, or £6,000 when combined with liposuction.
Should you prefer to spread the BodyTite cost across multiple payments, our financing partner, Chrysalis Finance, offers 0% APR loans over a 12-month period.
The cost of the procedure includes:
Traditional liposuction is often combined with BodyTite as liposuction can provide significant fat removal from the body, but this can lead to sagging skin. BodyTite complements liposuction by reducing sagging skin once unwanted fat cells have been removed.
For this reason, the CREO Clinic often offers BodyTite and liposuction together as a joint procedure.
The treatment area will be fully anaesthetised with local anaesthetic prior to treatment, meaning you won’t feel any pain. Dr. Tillo is a skilled practitioner of BodyTite and always works to ensure that patients are as comfortable as possible.n
A BodyTite arm lift does not leave a significant scar. This is why it is often referred to as a ‘scarless’ arm lift.n
The results you see from BodyTite arm lift generally last between 2-4 years, and a repeat procedure can be undergone after 12 months if you wish to ‘top up’ the effects of the procedure.n
Everyone’s body recovers differently, but most patients feel comfortable returning to strenuous exercise after 2-3 weeks of recovery.n
In general, you should feel comfortable returning to work 2-3 days after your BodyTite arm lift.n
BodyTite can be used all around the body in areas where stubborn pockets of fat and excess lax skin are a concern. Some common areas BodyTite treats the abdomen, back, chest, inner thighs, and saddlebags of the outer thighs, the buttocks, and the mons pubis.n
