What Does Profhilo Treat?

Profhilo works to boost the skin’s hydration and tightness by stimulating the body’s own production of collagen and elastin (a process referred to as neocollagenesis). In doing so, Profhilo can, therefore, be used to target skin laxity and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. How Does Profhilo Work?

How Is Profhilo Administered?

Profhilo is administered via a small needle to five pre-determined bio-aesthetic points on each side of the face. These injection sites are positioned in a way to avoid any major nerves and blood vessels.

    Treatment Procedure

    Profhilo injections consist of two separate sessions spaced four weeks apart for the best possible results. Injections will be made across five different points on each side of the face to ensure that the hyaluronic acid in the product evenly covers the area. Other parts of the body may also be treated with varying amounts of product. 

    What Does The Recovery Timeline Look Like For Profhilo Treatment?

    There is minimal downtime required for Profhilo treatment, and the vast majority of patients are able to return to daily activities immediately. However, some side effects from the hyaluronic acid, such as swelling and redness, may be present, though they should resolve within a few days. 

    When Can I Expect To See Results?

    The initial results will be visible one week after the first treatment, with skin appearing smoother and more hydrated. However, the full effects of Profhilo will only be visible once new collagen and elastin have been produced, which can take up to 4-6 weeks after the second treatment. After this, you will be able to enjoy the full effect of your newly taut, glowing complexion.

    How long does Profhilo treatment last?

    The effects of Profhilo can be visible for up to 6-9 months after the second treatment.

    Does Profhilo treatment hurt?

    Profhilo treatment shouldn’t be painful, though patients may experience a minor scratching sensation as the needles are inserted into the skin. To reduce any discomfort, numbing cream can be applied to the area prior to treatment.

    What should you not do after getting Profhilo treatment?

    You should avoid touching or applying makeup to the treatment areas for the first 12-24 hours after treatment. Exercise and alcohol should also be avoided for 48 hours. Do not undergo any chemical peels, laser, or other skin treatments for 14 days. Finally, you should avoid extreme sun exposure, UV light, freezing temperatures, and saunas for the first two weeks after treatment.

    Are there risks associated with Profhilo?

    Like any cosmetic treatment, there are risks associated with the Profhilo treatment process. These include irregularities/lumpiness, infection, allergic reactions, nerve injuries, haematoma, discolouration among others.
