BodyTite uses radio-frequency (RF) energy to tighten skin while permanently removing fat cells. The minimally invasive cosmetic procedure can be used in conjecture with liposuction or as a stand-alone treatment and is considered one of the industry’s most effective mini-invasive body sculpting treatments.
In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at the recovery following a BodyTite procedure, including all the information you need to know about the recovery timeline and the best ways to speed up the healing process.
Our body contouring surgeon, Dr Omar Tillo, is highly experienced in performing BodyTite across different parts of the body. With years of skill and expertise in the field, he will be able to design a bespoke treatment plan according to your unique requirements.
Due to the minimally-invasive nature of the treatment and the fact it can be performed under local anaesthetic, the recovery period following BodyTite is significantly shorter than liposuction and other cosmetic procedures.
A follow-up appointment is typically required after seven days to change dressings and evaluate the early stages of the healing process. However, if there are no pressing concerns regarding your healing, you can expect to return to normal activities, including work, after 2 or 3 days.
It is worth noting that returning to intense exercise or heavy lifting requires a little more time. This is usually possible after 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the extent of treatment and individual healing factors.
As is the case with any cosmetic procedure, mild pain, swelling, and bruising may be possible following surgery. This is completely normal after a BodyTite procedure and will usually subside within a week.
To help combat the post-procedure swelling and soreness, you will be asked to wear a compression garment for six weeks. Not only does this help the swelling to subside, but it also ensures that the healing skin remains in the right place.
You will need to wait for any post-surgical swelling and bruising to subside before seeing your results from BodyTite. After this, you can expect continuous tightening to occur over the next 2 to 4 months as you achieve your new sculpted look. Final results usually take six months but may take up to a year.
You may experience some discomfort and fatigue for the first 24-48 hours, during which you should rest to allow your body to recover appropriately. Any pain or soreness should be easily manageable through medication, however in the case of less tolerable pain, over the counter remedies may be appropriate.
Regarding diet, aim for plenty of protein in your meals and limit your carbohydrate intake. Drinking plenty of water is an effective way to replenish any lost fluids, while smoking and alcohol are strictly forbidden.
You should be able to return to most of your daily activities, including work, during the first week of recovery. Regular, low-impact exercise is also encouraged at this stage, as frequent movement helps to prevent blood clotting.
Avoid hot tub baths and swimming for at least a week after BodyTite surgery. This gives your incisions enough time to heal properly.
Depending on how well you are recuperating, running and low-intensity weight training may be allowed after a couple of weeks. However intense exercise should be avoided until week three at the earliest.
You can do several things to help speed up the recovery process. Explained below are some of the most effective:
Make sure you get plenty of rest during the early stages of recovery. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, there are no restrictions following BodyTite, so you can sleep in any position.
Take close care of your incisions and keep them as clean and dry as possible. Let soapy water wash over the incision sites when cleaning, and avoid scrubbing.
As mentioned, it is important to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 3 to 6 weeks following surgery to reduce the risk of damaging your incisions and delaying recovery.
Try to include as much protein as possible in your meals and limit carbohydrates. Hydrate consistently throughout recovery, especially after treatment, to replenish any lost fluids.
BodyTite is ideal for patients with a medium degree of skin laxity and small pockets of stubborn fat. For larger amounts of fat deposits, patients may be best placed to undergo liposuction in conjunction with their BodyTite treatment.
Overall, BodyTite is a great fit for those seeking to undergo a minimally invasive procedure without the significant downtime and scarring associated with excisional surgeries.
With a wealth of experience in the field, Dr Tillo will be able to design a bespoke treatment plan according to your specific needs and desired aesthetic.
