Tear Trough Filler London & Cambridge

The delicate under-eye area, also known as the tear trough, is a common area of concern: hollowness, dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles can appear as a result of fatigue, the natural ageing process, and genetic predisposition. Tear trough filler can address this.

Dermal fillers can be a safe and effective way to remedy these issues by adding volume to the area, smoothing out lines and wrinkles, and minimising the appearance of hollow, dark under eyes for a more youthful aesthetic.

To book a consultation with one of our specialists, contact the CREO Clinic today in London and Cambridge and enjoy rejuvenated eyes without the need for surgery.

What Are Tear Troughs?

The tear trough, or nasojugal groove, describes the area below the lower eyelid and upper part of the cheek. It is described as a depression that can vary in depth and prominence depending on factors such as a person’s age and genetics.

What Is Tear Trough Filler?

Tear trough filler treatments seek to rejuvenate the appearance of the under-eye area to reduce hollowness, dark circles, and/or lines and wrinkles. This is commonly done using fillers that restore and add volume to the tear trough to smooth out the area and create a youthful aesthetic.

How Do Tear Trough Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers used in the tear trough are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule found naturally in the body.

When injected, the hyaluronic acid-based tear trough fillers draw in water, adding volume and hydration to the skin of the tear trough. As a result, the area appears fuller, reducing hollowness and dark circles in the undereye while filling out fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful facial aesthetic.

Cosmetic Concerns Addressed

Dermal filler injections can be used to remedy many common aesthetic concerns regarding the tear trough area:

Hollowness

The tear troughs can develop a concave appearance, creating a hollow in the face that can be more prominent and noticeable depending on a person’s age or genetics, among other factors. As a result, the undereye can appear more tired or sunken-looking.

Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the tear trough, reducing the depth of these hollows for a fuller and more youthful appearance.

Dark Circles

The thin skin in the under-eye area can reveal the blood vessels beneath, giving rise to dark circles and discolouration.

Tear trough fillers can mask the underlying blood vessels and pigmentation that contributes to the dark appearance. In doing so, the skin tone appears more even, and the eyes look brighter and more vibrant.

Fine Lines And Wrinkles

Hyaluronic acid filler can be used in the tear troughs to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines that develop as we age. By restoring lost volume in the tear troughs, wrinkles are smoothed out, and the eye area looks rejuvenated.

What the Fotona SmoothEye Laser Can Do

As an alternative to dermal filler treatment, SmoothEye laser treatment can be used to revitalise the under-eye area by stimulating collagen production. As a result, patients can enjoy skin tightening effects, skin rejuvenation, and less prominent wrinkles in the tear trough.

Tear Trough Filler in London FAQs

    Are tear trough fillers safe?

When performed by a skilled and experienced medical practitioner, tear trough fillers are widely regarded as a safe treatment.

What if I’m unhappy with the results?

The vast majority of patients are satisfied with the results of tear trough filler. However, if you have concerns about your results, you should speak to your practitioner so that a solution can be found.

Are there any complementary procedures with tear trough treatment?

Tear trough filler can be combined with other dermal filler treatments, such as cheek or lip filler, to treat dark circles and wrinkles across the face. Alternatively, tear trough filler treatment can be performed with SmoothEye and skin boosters to rejuvenate and improve the overall quality of the skin while targeting hollow, tired eyes.

Do tear trough filler results look natural?

The results from tear trough filler should be subtle and natural-looking to avoid upsetting the proportions of the face. In addition, when tear trough treatment is performed by a competent and experienced clinician, they will tailor treatment to adapt to a patient’s unique facial profile.

Who’s not a good candidate for tear trough treatment?

Patients will not be suitable for treatment if they are pregnant or breastfeeding; have allergies to lidocaine or anaesthetics, gram-positive bacterial proteins, or dermal filler constituents; or have an infection or inflammation at the injection site (including cold sores).

In addition, patients may not be suitable if they take anticoagulants, though this is not always definitive.

What happens when tear trough filler wears off?

Tear trough filler is long-lasting but not permanent. Results from dermal fillers in the tear trough can last between 6-12 months, after which maintenance treatments will be needed to continue their effects.

How can I extend the longevity of tear trough filler?

The body naturally breaks down dermal fillers over time, diminishing their effects. Maintenance dermal filler treatments can, therefore, be used to ‘top up’ the results as required.

When can I return to work after receiving tear trough filler?

Downtime from dermal filler treatment in London is not usually required, and patients should be able to return to work immediately.
