Nipple Reduction Procedure

Shave excision and free grafting – with this technique, the nipple is fully shaved flat to the areola, then a small part of the nipple is reattached back as a graft.

Wedge excision – part of the nipple (known as a wedge) is cut and removed, while the remaining part is reattached, thereby reducing projection but maintaining the circumference. 

Recovery

Nipple reduction is a minor procedure with low downtime. As such, patients can expect to return to work and normal day-to-day activities within a day of surgery.

Despite the quick recovery, friction and pressure on the chest should be avoided during the early stages of the healing process. Therefore, it’s important to refrain from intense exercise and heavy lifting for 3-4 weeks.
