In this article, we will take a closer look at each of the three surgical procedures involved in a mummy makeover — tummy tuck, breast augmentation and liposuction — as well as all the information you need to know about the recovery process and the ideal candidates for the procedure.
Our medical director at the CREO Clinic, Dr. Omar Tillo, has extensive experience performing hundreds of mummy makeover procedures, selecting from an array of surgical procedures to safely contour and recreate each patient’s desired aesthetic.
Mummy Makeover Procedure
In general, a mummy makeover takes between 4-6 hours to perform. The exact procedure can vary depending on the surgical combination you choose and the different techniques being used.
Typically, Dr. Tillo first performs liposuction, followed by a breast augmentation, and then finishes with the tummy tuck. However, Dr. Tillo will design and discuss a bespoke surgical procedure with you during a consultation.
Breast augmentation surgery reshapes and adds volume to the breasts, either through fat transfer or via implants. This is ideal for women that are left with deflated and saggy breasts following pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Dr. Tillo also is renowned for his composite breast augmentation, where he masterfully combines breast implants and fat transfer to shape a superior aesthetic.
A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is designed to remove excess skin around the stomach while repairing any muscle separation which can be particularly common after pregnancy. Overall, the tummy tuck helps to provide women with a flatter, more toned stomach, free from excess skin.
Liposuction helps to remove excess fat from various areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, and hips. This is a perfect solution for stubborn fat deposits that seem resistant to changes in diet and exercise, enabling women to achieve a more sculpted appearance and regain their pre-pregnancy contours.
Who Is A Candidate for Mummy Makeover Surgery?
In general, the treatment is well suited for women who are in good health (with a BMI under 30) and who wish to contour their bodies following childbirth or significant weight loss. Your suitability for the procedure can be determined during an initial consultation with Dr. Tillo, while you can also check your ideal weight for surgery using our online BMI calculator.
What Is Recovery Like From A Mummy Makeover?
The recovery period following a mummy makeover is dependent on a range of factors such as your surgical combination and the size of the areas being treated. Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is typically the most invasive of the three procedures, and therefore takes the longest to heal.
As a general rule, patients that undergo a mummy makeover can expect to return to work and light exercise within two weeks and then resume their full daily routine (including intense exercise) within 2-3 months.
CREO Clinic Also Offers A Total Mummy Makeover
In addition to a standard makeover treatment (breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction), we also offer a total mummy makeover at the CREO Clinic. This comprehensive procedure includes the addition of four areas of liposuction and fat transfer to the hips.
- 360 Liposuction – This treatment removes excess fat from several areas of the body (including the upper stomach, lower stomach, upper flanks, and lower flanks), allowing women to achieve a more sculpted figure.
- Fat Transfer to the Hips – Hip dip fat transfer or hip augmentation involves fat being drawn from one part of the body and then injected into the hips. This helps to sculpt the hip and thigh area, providing women with a more contoured silhouette.
