Jaw Fillers London

What Are Jaw Fillers?

Jaw fillers describe the use of dermal fillers for the jawline to enhance and define the area. When jawline filler is introduced into the jaw in targeted areas, the jawline can appear more contoured and address common cosmetic concerns like asymmetry or a lack of definition in the lower face.

At CREO, we use top-of-the-market, CE-marked, hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers like Juvaderm or Teoxane to deliver effective enhancements to the jaw. Our specialists are expert injectors and can deliver a treatment plan bespoke to your aesthetic concerns.

To book a consultation with one of our specialists, contact the CREO Clinic today and enjoy a more defined and contoured jawline without the need for surgery.

How Do Jaw Fillers Work?

Jawline fillers are a gel-like substance, typically composed of hyaluronic acid. When injected into targeted areas of the jaw, the hyaluronic acid draws in water, providing hydration and volume to the jawline.

What Results Can Jaw Fillers Achieve?

Jawline filler treatment offer a diverse range of effects depending on a patient’s aesthetic goals:

  • Enhanced definition – Jaw fillers can add volume and definition along the jawline to achieve a more sculpted and defined appearance.
  • Balancing facial proportions – Jaw fillers can help to balance the lower face for a more proportionate facial profile
  • Correct asymmetries – Jaw fillers can add volume to targeted areas in order to create a more symmetrical jawline.
  • Combat the signs of ageing – Jaw fillers can help to address volume loss as a result of the ageing process.
  • Reduced skin laxity – Jaw fillers can help to smooth and lift the skin around the jawline, reducing the appearance of mild sagging skin.

Male and female patients looking to sculpt their jawline by adding volume and definition are good candidates for jaw fillers.

In addition, patients who want to contour the jawline without undergoing jawline sculpting surgeries or want to understand the effects that surgery can have before undergoing a permanent procedure are a good fit for jawline filler treatment.

    Who’s Not A Good Candidate?

Although jaw fillers can be an effective treatment for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity, patients with severe skin laxity may not be able to achieve the results they desire with dermal filler injections alone. In these instances, more invasive surgical treatments may be more suitable.

During your consultation, we will thoroughly assess your suitability and your medical history to ensure your safety. Patients will not be eligible for jawline filler treatment if they:

    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • Have infection/inflammation around the treatment area
    • Have allergies to lidocaine/anaesthetics or any ingredients in the dermal filler used

    Benefits Of Getting Jaw Fillers

Jaw fillers offer a range of benefits for both men and women:

    • Improved definition of the jawline for a more sculpted and contoured appearance
    • Reduced skin laxity around the jawline
    • Minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful lower face
    • Can achieve natural-looking enhancements to the jawline without upsetting the natural proportions of the face
    • Non-invasive procedure that requires no downtime
    • No need for anaesthetic, avoiding the associated risks

    Different Types Of Jaw Fillers

    Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally inside the body, minimising the risk of allergic reactions when used as a dermal filler. HA fillers draw water into the skin, creating volume, definition, shape, and hydration in the treatment area.

This type of filler is long-lasting but not permanent, with results visible for 6-24 months.

At CREO, we use HA fillers as they produce effective results and can be reversed using Hyaluronidase if required.

    Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) fillers are used to smooth wrinkles, restore volume, and treat hollow or sagging skin. CaHA stimulates collagen production to produce results that last between 12-18 months.

CaHA are thicker in consistency, making them an ideal treatment for deeper lines and wrinkles and for treating areas with thicker skin, such as the nasolabial folds.

However, the effects of CaHA fillers can’t be reversed and are therefore not used at CREO.

    Poly-L-lactic Acid

Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA) fillers stimulate collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve the elasticity of the skin. The effects of PLLA fillers last up to two years.

Like CaHA fillers, PLLA fillers are not reversible and are, therefore, not used at our clinic.

    Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) fillers are synthetic, biocompatible substances that look like tiny balls or microspheres. PMMA fillers stimulate collagen production to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to refresh and rejuvenate the skin.

PMMA fillers are semi-permanent, with effects lasting up to 8-10 years, and cannot be broken down by the body. As the effects of PMMA fillers aren’t reversible, the experienced cosmetic doctors at the CREO Clinic don’t use them.

    Jaw Filler Techniques

There are many ways to insert dermal filler around the jaw. At CREO, we use a cannula to carefully position the dermal filler in the predetermined injection sites before massaging the area to ensure the product is positioned correctly. This process can then be repeated along the jawline, at the angle of the jaw, until a sufficient amount has been inserted.
