Can A Tummy Tuck and BBL Be Done At The Same Time?

Combine Tummy Tuck And Bbl

Excess skin around the stomach and the loss of volume in your buttocks can become sources of cosmetic concern as you age. A tummy tuck works by removing excess skin around the abdomen, whereas a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a targeted cosmetic surgery aimed at increasing the volume and youthful pertness of your butt.

Some patients wonder if they can get a tummy tuck procedure and a BBL procedure at the same time. This article explains why combining a tummy tuck with a BBL isn’t a great idea, which surgery to get first if you do want both, and how each surgery can improve your physique.

To start enjoying the transformative benefits of a Brazilian butt lift or tummy tuck surgery, book a consultation with Dr. Omar Tillo, the CREO Clinic’s double board-certified plastic surgeon in London. Dr. Tillo is a pioneer in the field of BBL surgery and a renowned expert in body contouring – in his hands you can feel safe knowing that you are receiving expert treatment from a highly experienced practitioner.

Why Some Surgical Procedures Are Complementary and Others Aren’t

Combining one with another surgical procedure can be a great way to consolidate two recovery periods into one, as well as yielding excellent aesthetic results.

A good example of a combined procedure is a mummy makeover. This combined plastic surgery consists of breast augmentation, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. This is an extremely complementary combination of surgeries, as they can treat many areas without adding time or complications to your recovery.

Other combined procedures may not work as well together if they create discomfort or prolong recovery. An experienced cosmetic surgeon will advise you as to which treatments can be combined and which cannot.

Can a Tummy Tuck Be Combined With a BBL?

The CREO Clinic does not combine tummy tuck surgery with BBL surgery as the two procedures together will create too much discomfort during your recovery period. A tummy tuck treats the front of your body and a BBL treats the back, which can make it difficult to find convenient positions to rest and recuperate during your BBL recovery

If you cannot lie down in a comfortable position after surgery, this may prolong your recovery. This is why having a tummy tuck and Brazilian buttocks lift combined may be worse in the long run than having the two surgeries separately.

Recovery After BBL

After your Brazilian butt lift plastic surgery you may experience a level of swelling due to inflammation of your buttock tissues and the presence of extra fluid. For this reason, you should avoid sitting on your buttocks for the first three weeks of the recovery period, and make sure to use a comfortable BBL pillow when sitting is unavoidable.

As the swelling begins to subside, your buttocks will reduce in size, but settle into a more voluminous and contoured shape than before the treatment. The buttocks will then enter the fluffing stage, in which the skin expands to assimilate the transferred fat, starting the process of creating a natural looking enhancement.

Most patients will feel comfortable returning to work after 10 days of downtime, and then back to most of their daily routine after 2–3 weeks. A full BBL recovery usually takes between 4–6 weeks.

Recovery After Tummy Tuck

Full recovery after your abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) should take around 12 weeks. However, most patients feel able to return to work and other daily activities after 1–2 weeks, bringing light exercise into their daily routine after 3–4 weeks.

As with any major surgery, you may experience some bruising, especially in the early days of tummy tuck recovery. This should begin to dissipate after the first week, along with any discomfort you may be experiencing.

Which Procedure Should I Get First?

If you wish to reap the benefits of both BBL and tummy tuck surgeries, then it is best to think carefully about the order in which you undergo them. It is advisable to undergo a BBL surgery before a tummy tuck, as tummy tucks can sometimes reduce levels of available fat that can be used for fat transfer to the buttocks.

How Long To Wait Between Procedures

To ensure that your body has enough time to sufficiently recover between procedures, there should be a minimum six-month recovery period of rest between your BBL and tummy tuck.
