Bra Line Back Lift

Bra Line Back Lift at CREO Clinic

Bra line back lift is a cosmetic surgery that gets rid of what is commonly called ‘bra bulge’ or ‘back rolls’, the excess folds of skin and fat in the upper back around the bra line. For some patients, the skin laxity may extend down to their waist, while others may have excess skin around their shoulder blades.

Having a bra bulge is a cosmetic concern for many women, especially when wearing a bra and tight clothing that further accentuates the bulge. A bra-line back lift addresses this concern by contouring and restoring the curves of the upper body.

At the CREO clinic, bra line back lifts are performed by Dr Omar Tillo, who specialises in the procedure, along with a range of other body contouring surgeries. As a result, he has the skills and expertise to design a surgical solution that addresses the particular concerns inherent to each patient.

If you are dissatisfied with the excess skin around your bra line, book a consultation with Dr Tillo at the CREO clinic in London to discuss your suitability for a bra line back lift.

What is the Bra Line Back Lift Procedure?

You will receive sedation or general anaesthesia for your bra line back lift, which means you will be asleep throughout the procedure, usually lasting  between two and five hours. Dr Tillo starts by making an incision just underneath your bra line, then removing excess skin and fat in the area. In some cases, Dr. Tillo will use liposuction when a significant amount of excess fat is present. Finally, the remaining skin is stretched and stitched back together to close the incision, leaving a scar along the bra line which fades over time.

    Bra Line Back Lift Recovery

Immediately after your bra line back lift, you may experience swelling, numbness, and pain in the affected area. Dr. Tillo will prescribe pain killers and provide a compression garment to minimise the swelling.

In general, most patients resume light daily activities within 7-10 days after the procedure when the side effects significantly dissipate. However, it may take between 2-6 weeks before you can engage in more strenuous activities.

    Results

By getting rid of excess skin folds, a bra line back lift provides you with a flatter and slimmer upper middle back area, from the bra line to the waistline. You will notice an immediate reduction in the excess fat and skin after your procedure. However, it may take up to 6 months before the full effects of your back lift become apparent. By this time, the residual swelling in the area will have largely subsided to reveal a contoured upper back that looks and feels natural.

    Bra Line Back Lift FAQs

    Is a back lift permanent?

Yes, a bra line back lift produces permanent results by getting rid of any excess skin and fat on the back. However, you may develop further skin laxity in the area due to the natural ageing process. Furthermore, any fluctuations in your weight can alter the results of the surgery.

Can men get a bra line back lift?

Back rolls are a cosmetic issue that affects both men and women. Therefore, despite its name, a bra line back lift is just as suitable for men who have excess or sagging skin on their upper back.

Is a bra line back lift worth it?

Many people with bra bulges or back rolls are dissatisfied with this aspect of their appearance, especially when wearing tight clothes, and wish to contour the upper body by removing the excess skin and fat. As a result, bra line back lift is a popular surgery as most patients consider it an ideal solution for permanently getting rid of excess skin folds in their upper to middle back.

What aftercare steps should I take?

Your surgeon will recommend a few simple steps to follow during your recovery:

    – Sleep on your stomach – Try to sleep on your stomach for at least the first few days after your surgery to give your incisions time to heal.
    – Take pain medication – If your surgeon provides you with pain medication, take this as instructed to offer some relief from any discomfort you may have.
    – Avoid bras for the first few days – Refrain from wearing a bra during the first week to give your incisions room to heal. After one week you should be able to wear a sports bra, or one with a thicker, wider strap on the back.

How do you sleep after a bra line back lift?

Avoid sleeping on your back for at least the first few days of your recovery so that your incisions have room to heal without being disturbed by any excess pressure or pulling. After that you can sleep flat on your back provided care is taken when changing positions.

    Complementary Procedures

Individuals may want to combine their back lift with other procedures such as the following:

Bra Line Back Lift and Lower Back Lift

A lower back lift removes excess loose skin and fat from the lower back and buttocks. In doing so, the surgery provides patients with a slimmer waist and lifts and smoothens the skin in the lower back, buttocks, and outer thigh. Many patients who require a bra line backlift also have excess skin in their lower body that they want to get rid of and therefore combine both procedures for a more dramatic transformation.

    Back Lift and Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen, and tightens the abdominal muscles. As a result, the surgery provides patients with a flatter, more toned stomach and a stronger core. As many people develop excess tissue in the abdomen, it’s common for patients to combine a back lift with a tummy tuck.

Bra Line Back Lift and Breast Lift

Breast uplift, also known as mastopexy, raises sagging breasts by removing excess skin and reshaping the breast tissue. It’s common for patients, especially those who have lost significant amounts of weight, to combine a breast augmentation or lift  with a back lift as they are likely to have lax skin on their back as well as their breasts.

Bra Line Back Lift and Breast Reduction

Breast reduction reduces the size of the breasts by removing breast tissue and reshaping the breasts. Large, heavy breasts are more than a cosmetic concern for some patients, as it leads to a host of physical symptoms, including pain, poor posture, and rashes. Thus, patients with excess skin and fat on their back and disproportionately large breasts often combine a bra line back lift with breast reduction surgery.
