What Male Liposuction Can Do for You
Male liposuction is a body contour surgery that targets localised fat in areas such as the chest, abdomen, flanks, and back. Rather than serving as a weight-loss method, it is intended to refine body shape, reduce resistant fat pockets, and create a more defined, proportionate physique.
This procedure can be beneficial for men struggling with stubborn fat that is resistant to diet and exercise alone. Furthermore, by using high definition liposuction techniques, such as abdominal etching, the muscles are more defined, revealing a more traditionally masculine form.ย
Dr Omar Tillo is one of the most experienced body contour surgeons in the UK, with over 4,500 procedures performed, including a large number of male liposuction cases. He tailors his approach to each patientโs anatomy and goals, aiming for subtle, natural-looking improvements that fit harmoniously with the rest of the body.
If you are concerned about persistent areas of fat despite a healthy lifestyle, a consultation at the CREO Clinic can help determine whether male liposuction is an appropriate option for you.
Areas Liposuction Can Target
Liposuction can effectively target specific pockets of excess fat around the body. Some of the most popular areas where men have liposuction include:
- Chest
- Upper and lower abdomen (abdominal etching)
- Flanks
- Upper arms
- Thighs (inner, outer or posterior)
- Knees, calves, and ankles
What to Expect from a Liposuction Procedure
During your initial consultations, you will have an opportunity to discuss the areas of concern where you wish to have liposuction performed. It is important to note that liposuction is not a debulking or significant weight loss procedure. Instead, liposuction can be used to target specific pockets of fat only and should be completed when you are already at your ideal weight.
Dr. Tillo will then ask you about your health and ensure that you have a suitable BMI below 35 for surgery. If you are deemed eligible for liposuction, you will agree upon a treatment plan with Dr. Tillo, tailored to your specific needs.
Like other cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction is typically performed under sedation or general anaesthetic and takes 1-3 hours. Dr. Tillo will mark the area(s) of the body where fat is to be removed before inserting a suction cannula into the areas via a small incision. The liposuction device then breaks up and removes the targeted fat, after which the incisions are closed using dissolvable sutures.

Recovery Time for Men After a Fat Removal Procedure
After liposuction, you may experience side effects such as swelling, bruising, and numbness in the treatment area, which typically dissipates within a few days. In general, most patients feel able to return to light, daily activities after this time, and can resume more strenuous activity within 2-3 weeks.
However, you will be required to wear a compression garment for at least six weeks to minimise any swelling.
